Job Position: Environmental health and safety officer Job Responsibilities 1. Developing and Implementing Policies: • \tCreating and updating safety and environmental policies, procedures, and programs. • \tEnsuring these policies comply with relevant laws and regulations. • \tDeveloping strategies to achieve and maintain compliance with internal and external standards. • \tImplementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental management systems. 2. Conducting Risk Assessments and Inspections: • \tIdentifying potential hazards and risks in the workplace through regular inspections and assessments. • \tConducting risk assessments • \tEvaluating risks and recommending corrective actions to eliminate or minimize hazards. • \tPerforming compliance checks against internal standards, regulatory requirements, and legislation. • \tInvestigating workplace incidents and near-misses. 3. Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: • \tMonitoring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. • \tCoordinating with regulatory agencies and participating in audits and inspections. • \tMaintaining documentation related to compliance. • \tEnsuring the proper management of hazardous waste and materials. 4. Promoting Safety and Awareness: • \tDeveloping and delivering safety training programs for employees. • \tPromoting a positive safety culture within the organization. • \tConducting safety drills and awareness campaigns. • \tProviding guidance and support to employees on safety matters. 5. Incident Management and Reporting: • \tInvestigating workplace incidents and near-misses. • \tAnalysing incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. • \tPreparing and submitting incident reports to management and relevant authorities. • \tManaging emergency procedures like fire drills and first aid. 6. Environmental Protection: • \tMonitoring and managing air, water, and waste management practices. • \tPromoting sustainable practices and initiatives. • \tDeveloping and implementing strategies to reduce environmental impact. 7. Other Responsibilities: • \tReviewing and analysing safety reports and data. • \tSupervising and leading a team, if applicable. • \tStaying up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends. • \tManaging safety and environmental programs related to specific projects.
