About the Role:

This critical position is focused on covering a key commodity that remains essential for steel production and energy transition. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working closely with a small but motivated team of reporters.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to fundamental research within our global raw materials team and interface with various stakeholders. Ideally, this role will be based in Singapore and report directly to the Executive Director, Research & Analysis.


About Our Team:

We provide integrated market intelligence, price indexes, and forecasting services. Energy transition relies heavily on mineral-intensive processes, making it crucial to understand the dynamics shaping thermal and metallurgical coal, iron ore, scrap, steel, and base metals markets globally and regionally across Australia, Africa, India, China, Europe, and the Americas.


Your Responsibilities:
  • Track supply and demand fundamentals of the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
  • Report daily and weekly metallurgical coal prices that inform our key indexes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of pricing drivers, including supply chain, derivatives, and S&D factors.
  • Write breaking market news and in-depth analytical pieces that differentiate our content offering on metallurgical coal and coke.
  • Research and write about big picture issues impacting supply side economics, including policy developments, geopolitics, investment climate, and ESG factors.
  • Be a key contributor to the production of our daily metallurgical coal publication.
  • Maintain strong contacts with sources and engage actively in business development to assist account managers in sales efforts.
  • Represent us as a public face in the coal industry through client engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, and content marketing.

Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in commodities reporting or research, preferably in financial reporting or market analysis roles.
  • A keen sense of news and story development, with ability to train on writing skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business/Finance, or Politics is advantageous.
