Job Summary

This is an essential role within The Sherwin-Williams Company's manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and follow departmental procedures to operate and add raw materials to mixing tanks to produce batches of coatings to meet daily production targets.
  • Control and maintain process parameters of blending.
  • Use flow meters and pumps to dose resins and solvents.
  • Use drums to dose solvents.
  • Perform simple chemical analysis to check in-process quality.
  • Operate grinding mills and mixing stirrer.
  • Operate pumps and filters to pack products into drums or IBC containers.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and/or enter data into in-house system regarding materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and other operations to ensure records and actions are accurate.
  • Move large drums with the assistance of machinery-Forklift or pallet jack.
  • Open, lift, and charging bags of raw materials into mixing tanks repetitively.
  • Lift and charging pails of liquids into production tanks repetitively.
  • Lift, maneuver, and hook up hoses between pumps and mixing tanks.
  • Open and close valves, set and activate flowmeters, which are located at various levels, orientation, and degrees of manageability.
  • Drive a tow-motor or forklift vehicle to transport drums and pallets of materials.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment and may perform various janitorial or housekeeping tasks by using painting and cleaning equipment.
Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.
  • Able to read, write and speak simple English.
  • Forklift license is mandatory.
  • Willingness to learn and an excellent attitude.
  • Must be willing to work on shift and perform overtime work if required.
  • Must be physically able as work involves some manual lifting and working in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • Must be willing to work according to safety requirements.
Work Environment

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, and other conditions found in manufacturing and laboratory environments.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting more than 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
