Master Tug Operator Position

Job Summary:

The Master Tug Operator is responsible for safely commanding a tug boat and its crew. This role requires strong leadership, navigation, and maintenance skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume command of the tug boat and direct the crew in performing various tasks.
  • Ensure the safe operation of the tug by navigating it through challenging waters and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents.
  • Monitor the machinery performance from the bridge and coordinate regular checks with the engineers.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols among crew members and contractors, ensuring they wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Delegate maintenance tasks and conduct risk assessments before commencing work.
  • Take full responsibility for the safety of the tug and its crew at all times.
  • Oversee the bunkering process, adhering to the provided checklist.
  • Maintain the tug's equipment, instruments, and life-saving apparatus in good working condition.
  • Communicate with operations staff at the Mission Command Centre regarding tug operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Port Limit Helmsman license issued by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
  • Be willing to perform shift work.
