Weather Routing Expert Role

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Weather Routing Analyst to join our dynamic operational environment. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in optimizing vessel performance and ensuring safe navigation at sea.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect and analyze operational data from various sources, including vessel tracking, SatComs, characteristics, and constraints.
  2. Generate optimized routes and speed recommendations using advanced weather routing software.
  3. Deliver accurate meteorological and oceanographic forecasts to support voyage planning.
  4. Provide remote support to vessels during adverse weather conditions, monitoring their performance and adherence to recommended routes.
  5. Establish post-voyage reports, analyzing forecast vs. actual conditions and advising on claims when necessary.
  6. Liaise directly with captains, offering expert navigation advice and real-time support.
  7. Contribute feedback on routing software and operational processes to support continuous improvement.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A strong background in navigation, preferably as a Navigation Officer or Chief Mate.
  • Experience working with weather routing software and services.
  • Practical knowledge of rough seas navigation and fleet performance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with captains and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications would be highly desirable:

  • Experience in a Weather Routing or Operational Monitoring Center.
  • Background as an officer on gas carriers, tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers, or passenger ships.
  • Certified studies in meteorology or oceanography.
  • Experience providing onsite technical support to maritime companies.
