Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned chartering expert to lead our container fleet strategy. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to develop market intelligence.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in container shipping, with a proven track record of securing future-ready, emissions-compliant tonnage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Container Fleet Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive chartering strategy that aligns with commercial trade plans and decarbonisation objectives.
  • Fleet Portfolio Management: Build and manage a fleet portfolio that balances cost, capacity, compliance, and carbon performance.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate and finalize charter party agreements, ensuring operational and financial due diligence.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, brokers, yards, and other stakeholders to secure favourable tonnage terms.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor charter market dynamics, conduct benchmarking, and assess total cost of chartering, including emission performance and potential ETS/pass-through costs.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Management, Marine Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of chartering experience in container shipping, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vessel technical specifications, classification requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills, with experience in negotiating charter parties, contract clauses, and shipbuilding contracts.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with experience in managing high-performing teams and developing market intelligence.
