As a seasoned professional in the field of physical failure analysis, we are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for qualifications, new product introduction (NPI), and general failures from high volume manufacturing (HVM). This includes:

  • Providing full physical failure analysis support for qualification, NPI, and HVM failures
Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical failure analysis methodology and tool operation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Subject matter expert on physical failure analysis methodology and tools
  • Driving and sustaining 6S with safety protocol as first guiding principle
  • Certifying and complying with lab/chemical safety protocols
  • Operating FA tools including but not limited to: Ion Millers, FIB/EDX, SEM, 2D/3D X-ray, X-section, planar grinding and other lab tools
  • Strong problem solver covering interdependent process relationship between device layout architecture, fabrication process and assembly packaging process
  • Presenting findings and providing insights on possible fail models to assist manufacturing process owners in finding and fixing root causes
  • Improving the failure analysis process to reduce lead time or turn-around-time (TAT), and increase failure mechanism assignment accuracy and consistency
  • Leading a group of PFA technicians supporting the PFA operation, overtime and expenses management (consumables, tool maintenance, CAPEX for new tools if needed etc)
  • Working with vendors on FA tool upgrades and general maintenance
  • Collaborating with vendors and partners to provide guidance on training to PFA technicians
  • Developing new techniques and adopting best-known methods
  • Continuously driving to improve sample preparation and efficiency
  • Creating and maintaining failure analysis report results in databases and driving KPIs
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical/material/electrical/electronic or equivalent, with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Physical failure analysis subject matter expert experience
  • Lab equipment management and regulatory compliance experience
  • Experience in leading teams is preferred
  • Self-motivated and driven, able to work independently with minimal to no supervision needed
  • Objective-driven to achieve targets in tight schedules with limited resources
  • Strong communication skills and coordinating abilities to work across various functional teams
  • Good and positive interpersonal skills and growth mindset
  • Potential to take on leadership roles
