We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Application Engineering & QA to lead a team in providing innovative technical solutions while ensuring quality standards. This role involves overseeing continuous improvement projects, mentoring team members, and collaborating with customers on their technical needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance practices, leadership, and communication skills. They will be responsible for supervising the design and implementation of technical solutions, coordinating with product development, sales, and support teams, and executing and monitoring Application Engineering projects.

The Senior Manager of Application Engineering & QA will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality assurance practices and industry standards, managing customer audits, and providing coaching and development opportunities to enhance team performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of Application Engineers to meet company objectives and KPIs while planning and managing Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) focused on quality, safety, and budget adherence.
  • Supervising the design and implementation of technical solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Coordinating with product development, sales, and support teams for seamless integration.
  • Executing and monitoring Application Engineering projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery while staying informed on industry trends and technologies to provide innovative solutions.
  • Collaborating with different stakeholders and Japanese counterparts to resolve customer feedback.
  • Overseeing the development of technical documentation and train users on best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality assurance practices and industry standards.
  • Managing customer audits to uphold quality protocols and address any findings.
  • Providing coaching and development opportunities to enhance team performance.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 to 4 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of thin-film metallurgy, deposition processes, and related equipment (e.g., Ion Beam Deposition, PVD, CVD).
  • Proficient in problem-solving, with the ability to address customer issues through critical and logical thinking.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance practices, including compliance with industry standards and quality management systems.
  • Experience in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions to ensure adherence to quality protocols.
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
