The role of Risk Lawyer is a critical position that involves providing risk and compliance support to the business in the Asia Pacific region.
This involves collaborating closely with other Risk colleagues regionally and globally to ensure that the firm develops and maintains high standards in relationships between professional legal advisers and clients.
The position entails identifying and managing risks, adhering to regulatory requirements, and supervising junior members of the team where relevant. The role reports to the Sydney-based Head of Legal & Regulatory Risk (APAC).
Work can be based in Sydney, Singapore, or Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities:- Responding to queries from partners, functional managers, and other key stakeholders on various client-facing and internal governance, legal, and risk matters in the APAC region.
- Reviewing commercial contract terms with public and private sector clients and legal services suppliers.
- Collaborating with the team to manage Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Financing Terrorism (AML/CFT) queries for the region and assisting with preparation for regulatory supervision.
- Supporting cross-functional business projects for the risk function.
- Legally qualified in the jurisdiction where the role is based, with over 5 years' experience preferably gained while working in a leading commercial law firm.
- Dual qualified in England and Wales (favourable but not essential).
- Previous experience in risk and compliance.
- Strong organisational skills.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the company's risk management strategy aligns with its overall business objectives.
