Medical Laboratory Technician Position

Job Overview:

  • The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients through venipuncture, finger prick or heel prick methods.
  • The successful candidate must ensure patient identification matches official documents and comply with test requirements.
  • They will follow strict pre-blood collection, blood collection, and post-blood collection procedures to maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Additionally, the technician will assist in sorting and labeling blood specimens for lab testing, ensuring timely delivery to medical professionals.
  • Providing excellent customer service and satisfaction is crucial in this role, as the Medical Laboratory Technician will interact with patients, medical staff, and other stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Effective inventory management is also essential, as the technician will monitor and manage medical supply inventory to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
  • A clean and hygienic work environment must be maintained at all times, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Finally, the Medical Laboratory Technician may be required to perform other assigned tasks as needed, showcasing their adaptability and willingness to learn.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Requires a Certificate in Phlebotomy or related field.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in phlebotomy or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel and work in outpatient settings is necessary.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, being responsible, positive, diligent, multi-tasking, caring, attentive, and compassionate.
  • Commitment to 5.5 days of work per week (including public holidays and weekends) is mandatory.
