Job Description

As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring the Distributed Control System (DCS) to manage process parameters during startup, normal operations, and shutdown. Your primary goal is to ensure safe and efficient performance.

You will follow established procedures such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, and risk assessments to maintain compliance and operational integrity.

Prompt response to DCS alarms requires analyzing deviations and executing corrective actions based on documented process guidelines.

Clear instructions to field technicians are essential to ensure seamless coordination between DCS operations and field activities, minimizing the risk of miscommunication or operational errors.

Ownership, teamwork, integrity, and a proactive attitude are essential qualities in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the DCS system
  • Manage process parameters during startup, normal operations, and shutdown
  • Maintain compliance with SOPs, EHS regulations, and risk assessments
  • Analyze deviations and execute corrective actions
  • Provide clear instructions to field technicians
Required Skills and Qualifications

A strong candidate should possess:

Diploma or Nitec in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

Minimum of 3 years' experience as a DCS Operator in a chemical processing environment

Experience in polymerization and/or extrusion is a plus

Solid understanding of chemical processing and equipment

Familiarity with ISO standards such as ISO14001, ISO9001/IATF16949, ISO45001, and SS651
