Job Title: Nautical Safety Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Nautical Safety Expert to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of safety and compliance on board our vessels.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct shipboard internal audits/QHSE inspections as required.
  • Investigate incidents/near misses as needed.
  • Review minutes of shipboard safety committee meetings/Masters Review.
  • Approve risk assessments as required.
  • Assist various departments with Management of Change process and documentation upkeep.
  • Follow up on vessels calling critical ports, such as Australia, US, China, Paris MoU, and Black Sea MoU.
  • Issue work permits and risk assessments for tasks in liaison with the technical department.
  • Provide shipboard and shore-based training to officers and crew on tanker operations, quality management systems, and other relevant matters.
  • Attend vessels to conduct inspections/supervise cleaning/cargo operations as needed.
  • Assist with revisions of QHSE manuals/preparation of new QHSE manuals.
  • Prepare safety bulletins/alerts.
  • Deal with contingencies, following procedures outlined in Section 3 of the Contingency Planning Manual.
  • Participate in and follow up on Safety Campaigns initiated from time to time.
Requirements:
  • Education: Relevant degree in a field such as Maritime Studies, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in seagoing or shore-based safety, health and environment management and compliance.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of QHSE principles, ability to conduct audits and investigations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
