Job Role

The Job Coach plays a pivotal role in providing support services to trainees and alumni. This position requires a high degree of empathy and understanding, as well as excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify job duties and employer needs for effective job matching.
  • Collaborate with trainees and caregivers to set career aspirations and develop self-determined goals.
  • Facilitate the job search process by preparing resumes, arranging interviews, and providing job orientation.
  • Couch trainees on worksites to master required job tasks, social skills, communication skills, and etiquette necessary for workplace success.
  • Work closely with alumni to implement and review vocational goals and complete individual behavioral plans.
  • Mentor employers at different hierarchical levels to provide natural support for trainees on the worksite.
Employer Engagement:
  • Source new employers and employment opportunities through partnerships and networking.
  • Manage and maintain a robust collaborative relationship with existing employers.
  • Function as the main point of contact and service for assigned core or strategic employers.
  • Assess employer needs and deliver user-friendly induction and education sessions.
  • Obtain feedback from employers and assist them in accessing resources available for PWDs.
  • Work closely with employers to promote harmonious industrial relations, resolve worker-centric issues, and develop policies and procedures involving employment for trainees.
  • Provide consultation to stakeholders to help them understand different employers' needs and expectations.
Administration:
  • Submit monthly reports to Regional Office.
  • Write articles for APSN newsletter.
  • Update monthly reports pertaining to employer database, trainee employment records, and waitlists.
  • Conduct case management meetings.
  • Submit weekly and monthly logs to Regional Office.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Regional Office.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in any discipline with minimum 2 years of experience in relevant industries.
  • Possess minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess experience working with persons with mild intellectual disabilities (MID).
  • Be patient, a team player, and able to co-create new content tailored for students/trainees with MID.
  • Be passionate, well-organized, meticulous, and independent.
  • Ability to communicate with students, trainees, caregivers, and associates of different cultures/backgrounds.
  • Requires traveling around Singapore and may be required to work on weekends/PH.
