Marine Claims Professional

This is a critical role in the management of marine claims from initiation to resolution.

  • The Marine Claims Executive will be responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, including clients, intermediaries, surveyors, handling agents, overseas principals, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage claim notifications, schedule surveys, and engage settling agents as required.
  2. Open claim files and verify policy, reinsurance, and treaty arrangements.
  3. Issue acknowledgement letters and request supporting documents from clients/intermediaries.
  4. Prepare and follow up on PLA/Cash-Call Advice and liaise with reinsurers on payments.
  5. Draft LLA/MLR for approval and ensure timely reserve updates.
  6. Maintain claim diaries and manage follow-up timelines before file closure.
  7. Verify premium payment status and coordinate with Finance on outstanding issues.
  8. Refer cases with recovery potential to Recovery Agents and track progress.
  9. Handle special claims (e.g. ex-gratia, large losses) and update records accordingly.
  10. Escalate large or complex claims to management as needed.
  11. Compile regular reports and statistics on claims.
  12. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for marine claims system.
Requirements

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with casualty, reinsurance, property, investigation, written communications, general insurance, subrogation, user acceptance testing, statistics, decision making, fraud risk management, and surveys.

This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
