Energy and Indirect Commodities Buyer

The Indirect Commodity Buyer will undertake a variety of responsibilities related to energy and indirect commodities:
Responsibilities for Energy & Fluids:
Safran Group prioritizes the reduction of its carbon footprint while ensuring the competitiveness of its operations.
To align with these strategic goals, Safran Purchasing is evolving its Energy purchasing framework, which includes a Group Energy Purchasing Manager, Energy Group Commodity Managers, and Regional Energy Buyers across various global hubs.
- Conduct thorough market analysis for assigned areas (market dynamics, pricing structures, production variations, decarbonization trends)
- Assist in formulating the purchasing strategy under the guidance of the Global Commodity Manager
- Track regional trends that may influence site expenditures and decarbonization initiatives
- Stay informed on new regulations or subsidy programs that could affect Safran operations
- Manage or coordinate RFI/RFQ processes for new energy, fluids, and renewable energy procurement projects
- Negotiate contracts effectively
- Oversee the management of energy and fluid supply agreements
- Monitor and report on expenditure across Safran sites
- Ensure the accuracy of purchasing data within ERP systems
- Provide support for Safran activities in the Asia Pacific region, with potential for evolution based on needs
- Generate requests for quotations, evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate in line with overarching strategy, and implement supplier contracts for regional and national indirect commodities
- Collaborate with Safran Purchasing teams globally to execute purchasing strategies
- Establish a Local Target Purchasing Strategy for the assigned commodities
- Develop a roadmap by analyzing spending patterns and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure productivity reporting (savings) is maintained in Safran Purchasing tools
- Process all Purchase Orders promptly and at the most competitive prices to meet requester timelines
- Address issues related to delivery delays, damaged goods, incorrect orders, or billing and payment discrepancies as needed
- Maintain records and review documentation for compliance with purchasing standards
- Coordinate delivery timelines with internal teams, including long lead purchases
- Ensure that purchases are cost-effective and meet quality standards
- Monitor supplier performance to guarantee ongoing quality and timely deliveries
- Drive enhancements in delivery, cost, and quality of materials sourced from suppliers
- Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders such as Finance, Internal Control, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams
- Proficient in understanding technical subjects and analyzing complex markets
- Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, persistent, and inquisitive. Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with suppliers and internal clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in an international context
- Organized, methodical, and precise in data management
- Prior experience is essential
- Knowledge and eagerness to learn about contractual aspects for various Asian countries (regulations, laws, requirements)
- Familiarity with energy markets is a valuable asset
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- A proactive individual capable of working independently and collaboratively within a structured environment.
Education and Experience:
- Degree or Bachelor's in Purchasing or equivalent experience
- Preferably with experience in the aviation sector
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a purchasing role
