Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Specialist

Are you passionate about maintaining a safe and healthy environment? Do you have a strong background in wastewater treatment and operations?

This role requires a professional with experience in operating and maintaining activated sludge treatment plants, as well as a thorough knowledge of mechanical and chemical processes. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently in a stressful environment, maintain a high level of accuracy, and communicate effectively with team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain activated sludge treatment plants, including monitoring and adjusting process streams, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to equipment failures.
  • Collect and analyze raw waste, perform chemical, biological, and physical analysis, and maintain a thorough knowledge of the composition of influent, effluent, and internal process streams.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the wastewater plant, ensure efficient and economical operation of station wastewater treatment equipment, and complete maintenance records.
  • Work closely with the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and coordinate ordering repair and/or spare parts, maintenance parts, assemblies, and consumables.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Colorado Class 'D' Certification or relevant experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical and chemical processes, as well as principles and practices applied in the maintenance and operation of activated sludge treatment plants.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude, work efficiently in a stressful environment, and communicate effectively with team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Colorado Class 'B' Certification.
  • One year of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant operator.
  • Experience working in an Activated Sludge Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.
  • Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica.
  • Valid Driver's License issued in the United States.
