Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut, trim, bone and portion various meats according to retail specifications and customer preferences.
  • Ensure consistent quality, proper handling and attractive presentation of all meat products.
  • Prepare and package meat products with accurate labeling.
  • Maintain cold chain integrity and adhere to food safety standards at all times.
  • Provide product knowledge and basic cooking advice to customers when needed.
  • Assist in inventory control, stock rotation and order preparation for both the retail and foodservice arms.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards across all work areas including butchery equipment.
  • Support the team during peak periods.

This role will play a key part in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction from day one. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing high standards for meat processing and presentation as part of the opening team.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a butcher in a retail supermarket or specialty grocery setting.
  • Skilled in meat processing and use of butchery tools.
  • Familiar with retail display standards portioning and vacuum sealing.
  • Valid Food Hygiene Certificate (minimally Level 1).
  • Excellent attention to detail hygiene and product knowledge.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and work in a fast-paced environment.
