Job Overview

A seasoned mechanical engineer with a strong background in maintenance is sought after to lead our power plant team. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience, within the power industry or related sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Monitor asset life expectancy and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify and report on plant inefficiencies and propose corrective actions.
  • Design short-term solutions to resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues to optimize efficiency.
  • Establish best practices and engineering standards for mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance staff to provide technical support.
  • Manage and coordinate plant engineering projects, ensuring desired outcomes are achieved effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide training to others in technical areas.
  • Assess the effectiveness of maintenance programs, including major overhauls, and provide information on contractors' work performance.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure coordination for its adherence in the plant.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems, share points, and relevant software platforms for planning, reporting, and root cause analysis.
  • Procure necessary spares and maintain critical spares and consumables stock.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity, with 3 years of supervisory experience, within the power industry or related sectors.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the power industry and statutory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, gearboxes).
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing static equipment such as heat exchangers, boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and piping systems.
  • Knowledge of gasket replacements, flange management, and bolt torquing to ensure leak-free joints.
  • Familiarity with Condition Monitoring techniques and Predictive Maintenance tools.
  • Basic understanding of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) interfaces with mechanical systems.
