Lead Specialist in Footwear Material Sourcing

Job Description

As the Lead Specialist in Footwear Material Sourcing, you will oversee the Global Material Category Managers and Global Material Category Development Managers, with the support of the GSO Operational team across Europe and Asia. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the supply base for textiles, trims, and other materials. You will be tasked with developing sourcing strategies that align with the requirements of key stakeholders within the organization. Additionally, you will lead cost-saving initiatives aimed at achieving pricing targets set by management.

In this role, you will conduct an annual review of the Preferred Supplier List and facilitate effective communication between Global Material Category Managers and Global Material Category Development Managers to ensure the selection of appropriate suppliers for new projects intended for bulk production.

Responsibilities

Material Category Management

Enhance the application of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in supplier management and selection processes. Cultivate strong relationships and build trust with cross-functional teams to accurately assess business needs. Identify and support new business opportunities, process enhancements, and project proposals through collaboration with various teams.

Supplier Management and Development

Foster strategic relationships with preferred suppliers at the executive level through regular business reviews. Collaborate with the Global Supply Manager to address performance issues with underperforming suppliers. Work closely with the Global Category Manager to ensure supply continuity by maintaining effective communication with business units and suppliers, resolving any escalated issues.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

Ensure Development Managers provide timely and effective support to Designers during the Concept and NPI phases. Maintain open lines of communication with suppliers regarding quality expectations and testing standards.

Cost Management

Drive initiatives aimed at cost improvement and efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in supplier-related projects and process improvement initiatives. Uphold the values and policies of ECCO, ensuring compliance with GSO Procurement procedures and accepted practices.

Requirements

A Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, or Supply Chain Management (Sourcing/Procurement) is required. A minimum of 8 years of experience in sourcing or procurement is preferred. Proven experience in material category management is essential. Strong negotiation skills are required. Experience in leading cross-functional teams is necessary. Familiarity with the shoe-making industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
