Job Title:
School Science Support Assistant

As a School Science Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school's science facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Science level representatives to prepare materials for lessons.
  • Prepare apparatus and materials for internal performance tasks.
  • Assist in invigilation of practical exams.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of Science labs and Rooftop Garden.
  • Monitor stock records and equipment lists.
  • Enforce adherence to safety practices in the Science room.
  • Ensure the upkeep of the Science labs and Rooftop Garden.
  • Support teachers with Science-related events, such as Discover Science and STEM Carnival.
  • Enhance the Science labs with visual aids, displays, and concept cartoons.
  • Promote routine servicing and maintenance of equipment. Arrange repairs where necessary through external agencies.
  • Care for fauna and flora within the Science Department according to current regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the school administration.

Requirements
  • Specific knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemical preparation, disposal procedures, and hazardous spill cleanup.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with classroom procedures, facilitating science experiments, and group work.
  • Able to work in a school setting.
  • Strong documentation and summarization skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide advice, guidance, instructions, and directions regarding workflow and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to manage time effectively.
  • Experience working in primary school lab settings.
