Job Overview
Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and maintenance of various equipment, machinery, and facilities.

The main goal of the Facility Maintenance Specialist is to reduce downtime, uphold operational productivity, and foster a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance:
a) Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
b) Identify and troubleshoot a spectrum of issues, implementing effective solutions to restore equipment functionality.
c) Keep precise records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements.
d) Execute assigned preventive maintenance tasks.

Facility Management:
a) Oversee and maintain building systems, including lighting and security measures.
b) Perform routine inspections of the facility to identify safety hazards and cleanliness issues.
c) Coordinate and execute a range of repairs and adjustments to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.
d) Aim to minimize equipment downtime.

Safety and Compliance:
a) Follow safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks to ensure personal and team safety.
b) Work collaboratively with relevant departments to swiftly address safety and compliance issues.

Installation and Calibration:
a) Assist in the setup and installation of new equipment and systems.
b) Calibrate and adjust equipment to guarantee accurate operation and peak performance.
c) Support basic to intermediate modifications and projects.

Inventory Control:
a) Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies essential for maintenance and repairs.
b) Collaborate with the maintenance inventory team to order and replenish supplies as necessary to minimize downtime.

Team Collaboration:
a) Work alongside other maintenance team members and departments to resolve complex maintenance challenges.
b) Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and management regarding maintenance progress, updates, and recommendations.

Training and Mentorship:
a) Provide training for new and less experienced technicians.
b) Mentor and guide junior technicians in their development.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum O level or equivalent; diploma/certificate or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar capacity.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Willingness to work on-call or during off-hours as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and familiar with CMMS.
