
Ethics Compliance Expert

A Key Compliance Professional is required to implement and maintain our Corporate Compliance Program in APAC. This role involves implementing, maintaining and ensuring our business practices align with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of our Global Compliance Program in APAC and provide principal legal support in the region.
- Ethics & Compliance Responsibilities:
- Regional Leadership: Support International Compliance Oversight Committee and other Ethics & Compliance meetings and activities.
- Advice and Guidance: Provide day-to-day advice to relevant business teams on Ethics & Compliance matters.
- Risk Assessment: Support annual risk assessments and reviews activity-specific plans.
- Written Standards: Support drafting, implementation, and communication of compliance-related policies and procedures.
- Program Management: Implement actions per the annual work plan and KPIs.
- Regional Privacy: Manage compliance with privacy laws, including acting as Data Privacy Officer.
- Training and Communications: Support annual training plans; develop communications on key ethics & compliance risks and initiatives.
- Legal Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Draft and negotiate country-specific and cross-border commercial agreements.
- Corporate Secretariat: Manage corporate legal entities matters.
- Litigation Management: Provide counsel on dispute resolution, including litigation.
- General Legal Advice:
- Review marketing and product claims materials for legal compliance.
- Provide legal advice to Human Resources on employee matters.
- Advocate to government agencies and respond to inquiries and subpoenas.
- Hire and manage outside counsel as directed by the General Counsel.
- Provide other legal services as required for a globally operating company.
- Global Legal Initiatives: Lead significant Legal Department and cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or its non-U.S. equivalent – required.
- J.D. degree (or equivalent) – required.
- Advanced degree (MBA or another relevant credential) - preferred.
- Specific training in healthcare compliance, privacy, and related topics – preferred.
- 7-12 years of experience at a globally operating organization implementing a compliance program or related roles in Internal Audit, Finance, or Legal.
- Expertise in Marketing or other fields considered if demonstrated to perform job duties.
- Healthcare industry experience in Device, Pharma, or Biotech is preferable.
- English fluency required; fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, or other Asian languages preferred.
- Ability to provide risk-balanced advice to business leaders and manage complex ethical and legal issues in APAC.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills; ability to analyze complex matters and present clearly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage a heavy, multi-directional workload.
- Demonstrates integrity and commitment to high ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; collaborative, builds trust and consensus.
- Self-motivated, results-driven with risk awareness; ability to work in a matrixed organization and across cultures.
- Strategic thinker with attention to contract drafting and policy writing; able to focus on EMEA while ensuring global consistency.
- Leadership qualities, business acumen, and the ability to provide timely risk-balanced guidance.
- Resilience to maintain quality legal services in a demanding environment; promotes respect and collaboration.
