Project Manager: Cost Estimation and Management

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion. Your expertise in cost estimation and management will ensure that all stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects from design stage to post-contract stages, ensuring that costs are accurately estimated and managed.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and cash flow projections, taking into account various factors such as materials, labor, and contingencies.
  • Develop and maintain tender/contract documents, quantities, measurements, and cost information.
  • Assess and manage payment claims, variation works, and final accounts, ensuring that all parties are satisfied with the outcome.
  • Liaise with consultants, architects, developers, and contractors to certify claims for payments and resolve any disputes that may arise.
  • Take-off quantities for projects, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sources quotations from specialists, suppliers, and sub-contractors, comparing prices and providing a summary of the best options.
  • Attend consultant/site meetings as required, representing the employer's interests and providing updates on project progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by superiors, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

Negotiation skills to effectively manage stakeholder expectations
Budgeting and financial management skills to ensure accurate cost estimation and control
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports
Construction management skills to oversee projects from conception to completion
Quantity surveying skills to estimate costs and manage contracts
Drawing and estimating skills to create detailed drawings and cost plans
Procurement skills to source materials and services from suppliers
AutoCAD skills to create detailed drawings and models
Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
