Job Title: Chief Health and Safety Officer

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned health and safety expert to lead our efforts in creating a secure and sustainable work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety management, with experience in implementing ISO 45001-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) aligned with ISO 45001 standards to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard identification for warehouse, material handling, and contractor activities to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrences.
  • Coordinate training programs, including toolbox talks, safety training, and employee HSE training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure OHS compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Drive the Permit to Work (PTW) system for high-risk activities, ensuring all personnel are briefed on permit scope, safety controls, and PPE requirements.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS), promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the facility.
  • Ensure Facility Security – TAPA FSR Compliance by maintaining documentation, performing regular gap assessments, and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Cross-functionally coordinate with warehouse, transport, QA, and security teams to integrate safety and compliance into daily operations.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and new developments in HSE to provide expert guidance.
Qualifications and Requisites:
  • A certificate in HSE or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of TAPA FSR is desirable.
  • At least one year of experience in a relevant role.
  • Familiarity with warehouse environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, preferably ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 / Bizsafe Accreditation.
  • Proven time management, leadership qualities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate, present, and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
