Our Freight Specialist is a critical role that requires a high level of expertise in the field of freight forwarding.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of import and export procedures, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Attend to client and overseas offices/agents and handle sea/air/land import and export enquiries
- Source and maintain rates from hauliers, shipping lines, overseas agents/offices and subcontractors
- Coordinate and follow up on shipment arrangement (air freight/sea freight/trucking)
- Work closely with sales personnel to ensure smooth execution of shipments
- Prepare quotation and carry out rates negotiations with shipping lines/co-loader etc
- Check/comparison on the most economical of shipping documents
- Responsible for documentation of shipping documents
- Ensure all parties are kept informed on progress of shipment (collected/shipped/arrived/etc)
- Check and verify incoming job-related invoices which will be handed over to finance department for further processing
- Working with Finance and Business Development team on payment issues/job-related invoices and follow up on payment with clients
- Support the sales strategy, development of new business as well as coordination of Business Development shipments and existing business penetration
- Generate reports on quotes' success and failure rates complete with clients' and subcontractors' feedback
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the freight forwarding industry
- Very good proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel etc.)
