Estimator Role

Job Description: The Estimator role is a crucial part of our organization's success, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of bids. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing tender documents, interpreting engineering documentation to understand project requirements, and providing detailed quantity and component take-offs against technical drawings, specifications, and scope of work documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Review tender documents and interpret engineering documentation to understand project requirements
  • Provide detailed quantity and component take-offs against technical drawings, specifications, and scope of work documentation
  • Ensure timely clarifications are provided for ongoing submissions within the tender/RFP duration
  • Maintain and document the flow of bid project information

Working with the Estimating Team: You will work closely with the Estimating Team, reporting to the Estimating Manager or Project Manager. Senior positions act as mentors to junior estimators.

Team Responsibilities: Your team will be responsible for collating and checking tender bids against estimates for accuracy and completeness, providing costing data and input into proposal formats required by tender documentation, validating and creating BOM rates using first principle build-ups, and negotiating competitive rates with Suppliers and Sub-contractors.

Key Requirements: A degree in Civil Engineering or Relevant Discipline or Equivalent, 3 – 5 years of CSA Cost Estimating Experience, and prior CSA Cost Estimating Experience in the Construction Industry are essential.

Desired Skills: First Principle Pricing and Cost Planning skills are highly desirable.
