Design Engineer Role

The design engineer will be responsible for the development of mechanical structures, modules, and assemblies to support advanced laser and optics systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive mechanical design requirements specification
  • Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed mechanical design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and detailed drawings
  • Analyze material properties and behavior, structural, thermal, and flow-related aspects
  • Hold design reviews throughout the design process
  • Prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting

The design engineer will collaborate with research scientists, optics engineers, laser systems engineers, and laser users to ensure flawless integration and test at the subsystem and system levels. Strong communication with suppliers is essential to ensure all critical design requirements are well controlled and achieved.

Design Challenges:
  • Design for high precision: knowledge in optics engineering is desirable, with training provided
  • Design for robustness: vibration control and thermal management
  • Design for cleanliness: photo contamination control, purge flow analysis
Requirements:
  • Doctorate (Academic) in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years of experience
  • Solid understanding in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods
  • Hands-on R&D experience in mechanical precision design
  • Efficiency in using Creo/Solidworks
  • Strong analytical mindset in complex problem-solving, demonstrated capabilities in delivering solutions through detail analysis
