We are seeking an experienced Navigational Analyst to support our Weather Routing Operational Center and contribute to optimizing vessel performance and safety at sea.
This is an ashore role based in Singapore, ideal for experienced seafarers looking to bring their maritime expertise ashore and make a real impact in a dynamic, tech-driven operational environment.
The successful candidate will have strong attention to captain requirements and contract adherence, with the ability to initiate direct contact with vessels when deviations occur.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collecting operational data 72–24 hours prior to departure
- Generating optimized routes and speed recommendations using advanced weather routing software
- Delivering accurate meteorological and oceanographic forecasts and assisting captains in voyage planning
- Providing remote support to vessels during voyages, particularly in adverse weather conditions
- Monitoring vessel performance, fuel consumption, and adherence to recommended routes
- Establishing post-voyage reports, analyzing forecast vs. actual conditions and advising on claims when necessary
Requirements include:
- Navigation officer experience within the last 4 years, including passage planning preparations
- Officer of the Watch on Transoceanic vessels during 4 years at least (TransAtlantic, TransPacific crossings)
- Practical use of weather routing softwares or services
- Rough seas navigation experience and strong feedback
- Experience managing vessels fleet performance
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in a Weather Routing or Operational Monitoring Center
- Background as officer on gas carriers, tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers, or passenger ships
- Experience as Chief Mate or Second Engineer
- Exposure to polar navigation
- Certified studies in meteorology or oceanography
- Experience providing onsite technical support to maritime companies
- Familiarity with operational and seakeeping software
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, JIRA, and data visualization tools
Personal attributes required include:
- Strong analytical mindset for post-voyage data interpretation and claim support
- Curiosity and initiative to enhance analysis with external data sources
- Proactive in suggesting IT/software improvements
- Passion for delivering reliable advice to captains at all times
- Strong documentation and feedback writing skills
