Home Care Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Care Officer to join our team. As a key member of our shelter management, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of residents while maintaining a safe and clean living environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Resident Management
    • Assist in the coordination and referrals to partner agencies to provide comprehensive support to residents.
    • Act as a point of contact for operational issues, ensuring seamless service delivery during all shifts.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Monitor the well-being of residents and ensure timely intervention and support, particularly during night shifts when immediate family or external help may not be available.
  • Promoting Cohesive Living
    • Foster a supportive and cohesive living environment by implementing strategies to enhance resident interactions and mitigate conflicts, especially during potentially stressful night hours.
  • Development Promotion
    • Encourage personal, social, and educational growth among residents through structured programs and spontaneous supportive interactions.
  • Supply Management
    • Manage grocery shopping and stock maintenance to ensure dietary needs are met and food supplies are fresh and adequate for health and safety compliance.
  • Emergency Response and Reporting
    • Respond to emergencies with readiness and efficiency, documenting and reporting any incidents to ensure necessary repair and maintenance work is flagged and followed up promptly.
  • Procedural Management
    • Oversee admission and discharge procedures, maintaining detailed records and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Community Guidelines Enforcement
    • Ensure residents adhere to shelter guidelines related to structured programs.
  • Resource Inventory Management
    • Regularly check and update inventory of dormitories and food supplies, minimizing waste and ensuring resources are utilized efficiently.
  • Flexibility and Mobility
    • Demonstrate flexibility in work hours and ability to travel between different shelter locations as required, including covering night shifts and weekend duties.
  • Stay-in Requirement
    • Be prepared to stay overnight as operational needs dictate, ensuring continuous support and presence.
  • Gardening and Maintenance
    • Undertake basic gardening and general maintenance duties to maintain a welcoming and therapeutic environment.
  • Facilities Management
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the facility, focusing on communal areas and high-touch surfaces.
    • Implement thorough disinfection procedures following resident discharges, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
    • Supervise cleaning and maintenance of facilities, ensuring a pleasant and functional living space for residents.
  • Admin Support
    • Manage mail collection, prepare monthly reports, and handle phone inquiries, providing administrative support for smooth operations.
    • Assist in planning and execution of shelter events, providing refreshments and logistical support to enhance community engagement.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Adaptability: Ready to take on various tasks as needed, adapting to changing priorities and resident needs.
    • May include weekends, public holidays, and night shifts.
