Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Operations Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Assuming the role of Head of Deck Department and Master's Deputy;
  • Ensuring cargo operations and related safety measures are implemented effectively;
  • Liaising with shore authorities and maintaining awareness of our Safety Management System;
  • Ensuring deck crew follow safe working practices as defined in our company procedures;
  • Identifying potential ship hazards associated with deck operations and advising the Master accordingly;
  • Instructing Cadets/Junior Officers/Ratings on relevant QHSSE and shipboard procedures;
  • Performing stability and related calculations for cargo and ballasting;
  • Notifying the Master immediately of any defects onboard that may affect safety and structural integrity of the ship or pose a risk to the marine environment;
  • Assigning Deck Officers/Ratings specific roles and responsibilities within the deck department as defined in our Safety Management System;
  • Investigating non-conformances and applying corrective action(s) in consultation with the Master.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • A Certificate of Competency (Deck) Class 2;
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Chief Mate onboard a container vessel.
