As a Head of Marine, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all QHSSE & marine operations of the managed fleet, ensuring full compliance with international maritime rules and regulations.

To succeed in this role, you must have a strong understanding of shipboard operations, audit protocols, and safety management systems. You will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of these systems across the fleet, monitoring navigational practices, cargo operations, safety drills, audits, and incident investigations.

You will also supervise marine superintendents and other shore-based marine personnel, providing guidance and support. In addition, you will coordinate with vessel masters for safe and efficient operations, addressing operational concerns proactively.

A key aspect of this role is to lead shipboard safety culture initiatives and ensure continuous improvement in safety KPIs. You will conduct vessel inspections, internal audits, and pre-vetting preparations where applicable, collaborating with Technical, Crewing, and Commercial & Operation departments to align operations with business goals.

This position requires strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills, as well as familiarity with digital safety tools, risk assessment systems, and e-navigation technologies. In terms of qualifications and experience, you should have a Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (Unlimited) with command experience on ocean-going vessels, preferably container vessels. You should also have at least 15 years' experience in QHSSE & marine operations, including at least 3 years in a senior management role within a ship management or owner organization.

DPA, CSO certified, internal auditor certified and proven experience managing navigational safety, risk management, incident investigation and crew performance are also necessary. Experience interfacing with Flag States, Class Societies, PSC, and Vetting Inspectors is highly desirable.
