Chief Data Protection Specialist

This role is integral to our organization's Legal function, reporting directly to the Head of the Global Data Protection Office.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Head of Data Protection Office to develop and implement comprehensive Data Protection policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders on data protection matters related to personal data processing initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough data protection assessments, including DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, and TRAs, to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and review data protection documentation, such as privacy notices, template agreements, consent forms, and data protection clauses for agreements.
  • Offer guidance and support during negotiations of data processing and transfer agreements.
  • Stay up-to-date with new and updated data protection laws, regulations, guidance, and court decisions, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Respond to public consultations from authorities or regulators.
  • Provide expertise on implementing new data protection requirements and handling Data Subject Rights requests.
  • Address data protection queries from regulators, third parties, and clients.
  • Promote data protection awareness throughout the organization.
  • Advise on responding to Personal Data events and provide counsel on data protection investigations by authorities and litigation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from a reputable University.
  • Certifications like CIPM, CIPP, or other relevant data protection certifications are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a data protection role within an in-house setting.
  • Experience advising on data protection laws across multiple jurisdictions is essential.
  • A background in data protection compliance or governance would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills are necessary for success in this role.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and independently, providing pragmatic advice under pressure.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills are crucial in a fast-paced environment.
