Kitchen Operations Trainee Role:
As a Kitchen Operations Trainee, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
- You will learn and assist in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating according to industry standards.
- Observe and participate in menu planning, specials, and seasonal offerings to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Support the team in maintaining high-quality food presentation and taste standards.
Food Safety & Hygiene Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement food safety protocols, HACCP procedures, and hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness and compliance with health regulations to prevent contamination.
- Participate in regular cleaning schedules and audits to maintain a clean workspace.
Inventory & Cost Control Tasks:
- Assist in managing inventory, stock rotation, and supply ordering to optimize resource utilization.
- Learn cost control measures to minimize wastage and improve profitability through efficient use of resources.
- Track and report kitchen expenses and usage for informed decision-making.
Team Support & Leadership Opportunities:
- Shadow senior kitchen staff to understand staff scheduling, task delegation, and workflow management.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff and monitoring performance to enhance overall team productivity.
- Develop leadership skills for future supervisory roles to take on increased responsibilities.
Operational Improvement Initiatives:
- Participate in problem-solving for operational issues to identify areas for improvement.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity through continuous learning.
- Assist in implementing new kitchen procedures and technologies to stay ahead of industry trends.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field (fresh graduates welcome).
- Internship or prior experience in a commercial kitchen is an advantage but not essential.
- Passion for culinary arts and food service.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
