The Purchasing Specialist plays a vital role in the procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services.

  • Source and evaluate quotations for construction materials, equipment, and subcontractor services to align with project specifications and budget requirements.">
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best deals.">
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement measures to achieve reductions.">
  • Ensure procured materials and services meet required quality standards and specifications.">
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to address any quality issues promptly.">
  • Process purchase requisitions and raise purchase orders (POs) in accordance with internal approval processes.">
  • Monitor order status, coordinate timely deliveries, and support site logistics planning.">
  • Maintain and update an approved list of vendors and subcontractors based on performance and compliance checks.">
  • Assist in vendor performance reviews and ensure delivery standards meet safety and environmental requirements.">
  • Ensure proper documentation of all procurement transactions in line with regulatory standards.">
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to support compliance checks.">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or a related discipline.">
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in construction procurement or a similar role.">
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.">
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.">
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and ERP systems.">
  • The ability to read drawings/specifications/preambles.">
  • Experience with public sector projects is desirable.">
