The role of a Family Support Professional is multifaceted and highly rewarding.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Building Positive Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and caregivers from diverse ethnic backgrounds, providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.
  2. Developing Action Plans: Work closely with parents and caregivers to develop, implement, and evaluate action plans tailored to their child's unique needs, promoting growth and development.
  3. Providing Supportive Services: Offer concrete and social-emotional support to parents and caregivers, empowering them with relevant parenting knowledge and skills to better care for their children.
  4. Facilitating Engagement: Facilitate meaningful engagement between parents and caregivers and their children, fostering a supportive home environment that promotes healthy relationships and emotional well-being.
Collaborating with Community Partners
  1. Engaging Partnerships: Collaborate with community partners to deliver resources and services that meet the needs of each family, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.
  2. Interpreting Policies: Interpret relevant policies and schemes that impact children and their parents/caregivers, providing valuable insights and guidance to ensure compliance and best practice.
Administrative Tasks
  1. Documentation: Accurately and timely document work-related activities, maintaining precise records for easy reference.
  2. Communication: Regularly communicate with colleagues on child-related matters, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective information sharing.
  3. Information Sharing: Provide valuable information and insights to inform the development of new initiatives and programs, contributing to continuous improvement and growth.

Additional Requirements:

  • A minimum commitment of 3 years to this vital role.
  • A 40-hour work schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the diverse needs of families.
  • Conversational Malay proficiency is an advantage but not required.
  • A background check prior to employment is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with families, with a proven track record of success.
