Production Planner Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule production to meet customer order due dates, product properties and machine capabilities.
  • Release Manufacturing Orders based on production schedules.
  • Follow up on rework processes from non-conformance reports.
  • Monitor production progress and output, updating production plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve backlogs.
  • Plan and manage inventory levels of finished products, Work-In-Progress (WIP), and raw materials to ensure on-time delivery and targeted inventory turns.
  • Review and act on excess, slow-moving, and dead stock to minimize obsolescence.
  • Initiate write-off processes as per management decisions or non-conformance report instructions.
  • Analyze material requirements and reschedule deliveries to meet need dates and inventory objectives.
  • Coordinate with local suppliers to support production schedules.
  • Advise Customer Service on stock availability and update changes in unforeseen circumstances.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control (QC) to ensure products are approved by due dates.
  • Work with QC, Research and Development (R&D), Purchasing, Production, and other cross-functional teams on non-conformance reports and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in Material Review Board meetings.
  • Develop and maintain work procedures and instructions.
  • Track key performance indicators.
  • Support quality and financial audits.
  • Provide administrative support for Supply Chain needs, including data entry and ERP system maintenance.
  • Contribute to Operations continuous improvement initiatives.
