Academic Program Manager

The role of an academic at a maritime academy is both challenging and deeply rewarding.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop teaching and assessment materials for students, ensuring they are up-to-date with industry practices.
- Collaborate with industry partners to enhance learning through initiatives like field trips, student projects, internships, and overseas programs.
- Align new/existing curriculum modules with the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch-keeping (STCW) Convention.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and ensure equipment and training facilities are updated and operational-ready.
- Participate in Internal and External Quality Maritime Education and Training (QMET) audits and provide technical leadership/training in specific working practices.
Requirements:
- Hold a Marine Engineering Officer Class 1 Certificate of Competency issued by relevant authorities.
- Have at least 8 years of working experience within the maritime industry.
- Be self-driven, independent, and possess readiness to work as a team.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Be passionate about education and possess a strong interest in teaching and mentoring students.
- Demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills, including ability to provide technical leadership and team coordination.
- Be a people-oriented individual with good interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
