Digital Cinematography Professor

The School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Digital Filmmaking (Cinematography). This appointment will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing an innovative curriculum that aligns with the needs of today's industry and society. About the Role
The appointment is for a tenure-track position at Assistant or Associate Professor level, with salary and appointment level commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful applicant will have a strong professional background in digital filmmaking and university-level teaching experience, including mentoring final student projects or theses. A terminal degree (MFA or PhD) is preferred, or exceptional professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students, develop curriculum, and engage in academic and career advising. You will also contribute to school and university committee service, community engagement, and research activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching courses in digital filmmaking and cinematography.
- Developing and implementing curriculum aligned with industry needs.
- Mentoring students' projects and providing academic guidance.
- Engaging in research and publishing scholarly work.
- Participating in school and university committees.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Significant experience and expertise in all aspects of cinematography, including virtual production, hybrid live-action animation capture, or visual effects cinematography.
- A holistic understanding of the filmmaking process and appreciation for cinematic narrative and storytelling.
- Practical and technical skills supported by critical and conceptual theory.
- Expertise in overseeing students' projects related to digital filmmaking.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for delivering engaging and dynamic courses.
- Appropriate experience in teaching and developing curriculum at a tertiary level.
- A collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to work effectively with colleagues.
- A track record and enthusiasm for research in these fields.
