Job Overview

This is a senior leadership position within the underwriting team, responsible for providing strategic guidance and support to enhance the overall performance of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with reinsurers to develop and refine underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established underwriting guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with reinsurers to develop and implement underwriting campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with underwriting decisions through the review of pending cases.
  • Underwrite new applications for life, health, long term care and high net worth proposals.
  • Countersign and provide guidance to underwriters.
  • Conduct underwriting training for distribution channels.
  • Ensure department KPI are achieved.
  • Take accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in underwriting Life, Accident and Health risks.
  • Leadership ability and a team player.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
