The Energy Connections Office is tasked with facilitating the importation of low-carbon electricity into Singapore by 2035. This ambitious goal will see around one-third of our energy demand met through imported electricity.


We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Branch Head to lead the Re-Imagining Future Power (RFP)-A team. The successful candidate will be responsible for nurturing and guiding the RFP-A team to deliver key outcomes for Singapore and EMA.


Key responsibilities will include leading negotiations with interested companies on their proposals, evaluating such proposals to meet our requirements for energy security, competitiveness and sustainability, engaging overseas government bodies to facilitate imports, and ensuring that electricity imports projects are implemented on time.


To succeed in this pivotal role, you will need to have keen interest in energy transition issues and passion for the public service. Relevant experience in government relations, industry engagement and/or the energy sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity, is essential. You must also be comfortable with navigating ambiguity, challenging the status quo, and willing to speak up and put forward new solutions.


Excellent verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills, and preparedness to deep-dive into relevant subject areas are also required. Additionally, you should be prepared to travel overseas for work frequently.


Requirements:


  • Keen interest in energy transition issues and passion for the public service
  • Relevant experience in government relations, industry engagement and/or the energy sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
