Role Summary:

A Special Education Teacher plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education to students with autism, utilizing a range of effective teaching strategies.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and parents to provide quality education and care for students, understanding their diverse learning and developmental needs through observations, diagnoses, and discussions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans using a variety of relevant teaching strategies to cater to students' individual needs">
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and develop curriculum and programs that promote student learning and development">
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential">
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to ensure seamless collaboration and support">
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and development">
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Teacher Aides as needed to ensure effective student support">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a recognized degree or polytechnic diploma in Special Education, along with teaching qualifications or equivalent. Additionally, 5 credits in GCE 'O' level with a pass in English and Mathematics are required. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 years of experience at secondary level and familiarity with the national curriculum.

A passion for teaching and working with children and youths with autism is essential. Experience in teaching children with autism is an added advantage.
