Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Decarbonization Principal Consultant to join our team at Black & Veatch. As a key member of our Global Advisory consultants, technology specialists, and energy industry subject matter experts, you will drive the development and execution of business strategy to support the growth of our Strategy & Planning business and the success of our clients in implementing their Decarbonization and Energy Transition journey.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to create and cultivate the group's business vision, providing clients with strategy, concepts, and insights to understand, address, and operate successfully within critical infrastructure solutions in the energy industry and adjacent sectors. Key responsibilities include:

  • Growing the Strategy & Planning business area by creatively engaging clients and delivering strategic solutions to satisfy their needs.
  • Developing, marketing, selling, and delivering world-class strategy solutions across the industries served by Black & Veatch with a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach that integrates strategic, financial advisory services for key stakeholders, private and investor-owned utility companies, commercial and industrial customers, wholesale operators, generators, municipalities, government agencies, and technology solution providers.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and management of a well-conceived business plan to grow the level of business and client base for the Strategy & Planning business area and leading the process to acquire new clients and engagements.
  • Developing long-term project and business advisory relationships with a wide range of clients including utilities and other energy market participants (e.g., commercial and industrial customers and energy developers).
  • Being responsible for all aspects of assigned engagements including conducting quality assurance reviews on their own and others' work. The individual will also direct the development of processes and techniques that improve the operation of the firm and develop marketable solutions.
  • Closely interacting with members of Black & Veatch's solution teams, selling and delivery of multi-functional business solutions.
Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An MBA or advanced degree in policy, economics, sustainability, or a related relevant field.
  • 10 years of experience in the energy industry in APAC multiple markets.
  • 10 years of business development experience in APAC multiple markets.
  • Understanding of financial metrics including profitability, revenue, overhead costs, and project finance.
  • Proven experience facilitating collaboration among cross-functional, highly technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and launch new market new solutions, products, or services.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex findings into executable strategic insights and recommendations for both executive and mid-management stakeholders.
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills.
  • Cognitive flexibility, intellectual curiosity.
  • Drive to develop business insights & new/creative ways of solving challenges across multiple sectors and geographies.
  • Proven experience developing business strategies in energy or adjacent sectors noting the complexity of the APAC region.
  • Experience & perspectives in multiple facets of energy markets (wholesale, retail, financial, technologies, policy).
  • Desire to work in a face-paced, start-up like environment where deliverables & tasks may frequently change.
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years in a business/consulting environment.
