Teaching Jewelry Design

We are seeking a part-time/freelance jewelry design teacher to mentor students towards portfolio submissions for top design schools and lead exploratory art & jewelry classes.

  • Mentor full design cycle: research, ideation, sketching, prototyping, presentation.
  • Teach bench basics: measuring, forming, texturing, cold connections; demonstrate soldering/annealing with strict safety.
  • Instruct wax carving & lost-wax casting (including vendor coordination); basic stone-setting demonstrations.
  • Introduce CAD software (Rhino/Matrix/Fusion/Blender) and 3D printing for prototyping/casting.
  • Set milestones; provide timely feedback; update parents when necessary.

Kids Exploratory Classes

  • Foster fun, inquiry-based sessions blending fine art & beginner jewelry.
  • Ensure safe materials: polymer clay, shrink plastic, soft wire, beads/knotting, felt, air-dry clay; teacher-operated UV/low-heat tools only.
  • Conduct sample projects: charms, friendship bracelets, pins, clay beads, festive pieces.
  • Implement simple process: mood board → quick sketch → prototype → mini presentation; adjust for age groups 5–8 vs 9–12.
  • Manage positive class dynamics; clear safety rules; maintain tidy tool stations.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years teaching/pro experience in jewelry/metals; portfolio required.
  • Degree in Jewelry/Metals/Accessory Design.
  • Strong bench skills & small machinery (flex shaft/tumbler/polisher); excellent safety culture.
  • CAD & rapid prototyping a plus.
  • Experience teaching children 5–12; patient, energetic communicator.
  • Evenings/weekends availability.
