**Job Title:** Laboratory Technologist

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Laboratory Technologist.

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent time management skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to providing exceptional support to our students.
  • You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining necessary technical devices, managing and ordering consumables based on predicted student numbers, and ensuring the efficient use of resources in the delivery of laboratory sessions.
  • In addition, you will coordinate laboratory class sessions, ensure the smooth running of laboratory programmes, and provide assistance and support during laboratory practical sessions.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you will also be required to mentor students during practical sessions at the diploma level within applicable subject areas as assigned, and adhere and assist in the administration and enforcement of health and safety matters.

Research & Knowledge Exchange:

  • You will participate in the use of e-learning platforms where applicable, handle laboratory-related enquiries, feedback and correspondence with students, companies and university partners effectively.

Teamwork:

  • You will actively participate during department and programme meetings, contribute and work proactively with colleagues in institution-wide working groups or committees to meet goals and timelines, and engage and work with colleagues within the School and PSB Academy through collaborative projects where applicable.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • You will maintain your own continuing professional development in addition to training and development provided by the institution.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science in a related discipline is required. Entry-level candidates will be considered.
  • Prior teaching/instructional experience would be advantageous, as well as 1-2 years of relevant working experience in a research laboratory or teaching laboratory.
  • Dedicated and goal-oriented individuals with strong time-management skills and strong interpersonal skills are encouraged to apply.
  • The ideal candidate will be willing to work at night (weekdays) and Saturdays as well as occasional Sundays when needed to support the work/classes.
