Job Title: Science Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Science Laboratory Assistant. The successful candidate will provide administrative support for science teaching and learning activities, including preparation of resources and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning Support: Assist teachers in preparing resources and materials for science laboratory activities and enrichment programs.
  • Resource Management: Label and keep records of existing and new science teaching and learning materials and lab resources.
  • Lab Maintenance: Pack and organize resources in the science rooms, ensuring they are clean and conducive for lessons.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure lab equipment, materials, and specimens are in good working conditions. Conduct stock-take at least twice a year and maintain a stock book and breakage record.
  • Waste Disposal: Properly dispose of waste materials, such as sharp objects and chemicals.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure safety of pupils in the science rooms and report any incidents to the Science HOD/Level Head. Maintain a laboratory incident logbook.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative/logistical support for science competitions, assessments, and programs, including collation of survey results and distribution of science materials to pupils.
  • Safety Briefings: Assist in carrying out safety briefings, such as Laboratory Safety and equipment awareness (e.g., Microscopes).

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
