Job Description

The Cost and Contracts Manager will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of shipbuilding projects, from planning to completion. This includes developing and managing cost estimates and budgets, monitoring and controlling project costs, and performing detailed cost analysis.

  • Develop and manage cost estimates and budgets for shipbuilding projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring they remain within the established budget and scope.
  • Work closely with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams to gather accurate data for cost planning and tracking.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis, identifying cost drivers and areas for cost reduction or optimization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and analyze contract terms to ensure cost control mechanisms are in place and adhered to.
  • Track and report on change orders and variations in project scope, ensuring their impact on costs is accurately reflected.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions by providing detailed cost breakdowns and estimating potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and external regulations.
  • Identify and implement best practices for cost management and risk mitigation within the shipbuilding industry.
  • Conduct post-project cost analysis to evaluate performance and provide recommendations for future improvements.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate suppliers and subcontractors in terms of cost-effectiveness.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous background in Quantity Surveying would be preferred.
  • Proven relevant experience within the Shipbuilding, Maritime, or Construction industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
