Mammal Care Specialist

As a Marine Mammal Specialist, you will oversee the daily care and well-being of dolphins. Your primary responsibilities include feeding, handling, observing, enriching, conditioning, and training these marine animals.

You will also supervise junior team members, ensuring they receive proper training and support in animal husbandry. This may involve leading hands-on training sessions or providing one-on-one coaching to help them develop their skills.

In addition to your role as a trainer, you will be responsible for managing guest interaction programs. This will involve designing engaging experiences for visitors while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.

Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for working with animals. You should have a solid understanding of life sciences, psychology, or a related field, and be able to demonstrate your knowledge through relevant coursework or work experience.

We are looking for someone who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, think critically, and make sound judgments under pressure. If you are a detail-oriented problem-solver with excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply for this challenging and rewarding role.

The successful candidate will be required to possess SCUBA certification (preferably at Rescue Diver) and be confident in working in an aquatic environment. You must also have good verbal communication skills, be physically fit, and able to lift 15kg of weight.

  • Diploma or Degree in Life Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a marine mammal facility or equivalent.
  • SCUBA certification (preferably at Rescue Diver).
  • Animal husbandry knowledge and passion to work with animals.
  • Possess good verbal communication skills.
  • Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to lift 15kg of weight.
