Job Description:

As a seasoned dry dock manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of vessels, ensuring that they meet regulatory standards. Your duties will include developing and implementing long-term and short-term strategies to improve vessel condition and operational performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and driving technical strategies to enhance vessel competence, augment skills, and promote a culture of safety and risk perception within the Technical team.
  • Maintaining close relationships with key stakeholders, including sea staff, statutory organizations, clients, and third-party service providers.
  • Coordinating layup repairs, including planning, execution, cost/time monitoring, and selection of contracting repair yards/companies to ensure projects are carried out in a cost-effective, consistent, and uniform manner with minimal downtime.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Visiting/sailing with vessels to draw up repair specifications in collaboration with the Ship Manager, Marine Assurance Department, IT Department, considering compliance with new statutory requirements and commercial client requirements.
  • Attending layup repairs and overall repair project execution, monitoring of cost and time, and final invoice settlement with shipyards in line with identified KPIs.
  • Efficient logistical arrangements and spares scheduling for cost-effective logistics costs in coordination with the Ship Manager and Procurement Team.

Process and System Efficiency:

Develop dry dock processes and procedures to cover technical and safety aspects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a database of project costs, repair locations, and other relevant data to inform decision-making.

Training Content Development:

Develop training modules for seafarers to improve awareness, planning, and performance during repairs. You will also participate in crew seminars to drive overall repair performance and develop training for office staff to improve specification building, cost comparison, and invoicing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent disciplines, preferably with a minimum of 2 years of sailing experience as a 2nd officer.
  • Experience in handling extensive layup repair projects for at least 2 years.
  • Technological proficiency and comfort working in a digital environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
