Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT professional to administer and maintain Unix systems, with a focus on VMware technologies. This role requires strong technical knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, and familiarity with enterprise infrastructure tools and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL).
  • Manage, provision, and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance in line with CIS benchmarks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.
  • File system and storage management, manage disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM), including resizing and splitting mount points.
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems.
  • Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach.
