About the Team

The Verification & Identity Platform (VIP) team is a core platform team which powers user onboarding & verification (KYC & KYB) worldwide & ensures continued compliance throughout the merchant life-cycle at Stripe. Our team safeguards user identities across our array of digital services, designing and executing a secure, effortless, and user-centered identity collection & verification environment. Our systems cater to a broad spectrum of identity confirming scenarios, including identity proofing, risk-based assessment, and progressive & continuous identity verification. We provide an in-house smart orchestration eco system which allows us to integrate with multiple 3P data verification services, financial institutions and regulatory bodies to dynamically route live traffic optimizing for accuracy, reliability and speed to verify. We enable Stripe's continued compliance in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape by providing infrastructure that automates document collection, verification & merchant communication for high scale requirements refresh and accounts remediation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Stripe leaders across the company to create and drive toward the vision of simple and consistent Risk & Compliance experience;
  • Work with Product Managers to shape up the product roadmap and enable the experiences which helps solve user problems and keep them complaint;
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for your team, and work with cross functional dependencies across the company to meet the deliverables;
  • Own the technical roadmap for the team and support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  • Hire and develop the best of engineers in your team; Be a sponsor-coach for the team to learn and grow;
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe's engineering management team
Requirements
  • Have built and managed critical systems working with cross functional teams globally; Any experience in Risk and compliance domain is a plus;
  • Have built and grown teams comprising of high talent individuals; Great people manager with proven track record to build self driven and highly efficient teams;
  • Thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility;
  • Are curious. You enjoy learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work – in this role, you'll learn a ton about global money movement rails, currency conversion, inter-company flows, finance and accounting and more
  • Are humble. It's important to continue to learn and grow as an individual, engineer, and leader
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience with minimum 10 years of experience with software development
  • 8-10 years of overall experience with 3+ years experience in leadership role with people management responsibilities as well;
  • Built diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems;
  • Thrived in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
